Several chapters address practical issues having to do with establishing and carrying out a human genome mapping project. Since the Department of Energy, along with the NIH, has a major role in carrying out this project, such papers are particularly appropriate in this small book. The volume will be of interest to scientists and writers active in this field. Several of the papers will interest students and generalists as an introduction to the field of gene mapping and sequencing.
